1968

Clark Clifford, the Secretary of Defense got the President Johnson to approve 24,500 more troops in case of emergency, raising troop volume potential to the War’s apex of 549,400, a figure that was never actually reached.

1971

Lt. William Calley was found guilty of murder and sentenced to life and labor at Ft Leavenworth for his action during the My Lai massacre.
