This timeline is meant to keep track of what was both happening on the battlefield, politically and at home in the USA during the Vietnam war.

1964

S Vietnamese authorities guarantee that two N Vietnamese Army companies have attacked South Vietnam. These attacks brought about a battle in the Quang Tri Province, south of the DMZ . The North Vietnamese powers were crushed with many casualties.

1965

224 troopers of the 1st Brigade of the 101st Airborne arrived by helicopter close to An Khê in the Central Highlands in a territory in which 2 Viet Cong forces were found. It was named Operation Gibraltar. The Viet Cong killed 13 Americans. Air strikes made the Viet Cong withdraw with losses evaluated by the U.S. at in the vicinity of 250.
