This timeline is meant to keep track of what was both happening on the battlefield and at home in the USA during the Vietnam war.

1965

Pres Johnson abruptly stops the bombing of North Vietnam which were part of Operation Rolling Thunder. He does this trying to induce the North to come to terms in some sore of peace agreement. It did not work.

1968

Paris peace talks begin to converse about US troop withdrawal. This marks the first time these US and North Vietnamese delegations meet for this.

1971

Peace talks in Paris enter their fourth year. Little to no progress was made thus far.
