1965

Gen William Westmoreland recommended that the U.S. bomb the railway from N. Vietnam to China, mine Haiphong harbor, carry out B-52 strikes and prompted Washington that he required more American fighters than those beforehand affirmed

1971

Composed by Senator Mike Mansfield, The Mansfield Amendment was embraced by Congress.

The change asked pulling back American troops from S Vietnam ASAP. This marked the first time the US that Congress had looked towards ending a war.
