This timeline is meant to keep track of what was both happening on the battlefield, politically and at home in the USA during the Vietnam war.

1962

The United States instigates the installation of a tactical air control system to consolidate and secure the South Vietnamese airspace against enemy North Vietnamese aerial attacks. More additional aircrafts are also furnished for combat and airlift missions to support and improve the mobility of the South Vietnamese troops and their supplies.

1968

The United States Embassy in Saigon is attacked by the Viet Cong fighters as part of the ongoing Tet offensive. 19 suicide squad Viet Cong fighters subjugated the Embassy and held it under siege for 6 hours till United States assault paratroopers landed on the Embassy roof by helicopter and subdued the Viet Cong fighters.

1972

Hanoi publishes a nine-point plan earlier submitted during the secret talks between Henry Kissinger and Le Duc Tho. This was after a communique was released accusing both President Richard and Henry Kissinger of promulgating contents of the secret talks unilaterally. The secret talks had been going on between Kissinger and Tho since August 1969.
