1968

The Battle of Ban Houei Sane is instigated. It commenced on the night of January 23rd, 1968 after fighters from the 24th regiment of the People’s Army of Vietnam ambushed and managed to overrun a small outpost controlled by the Laotian Army situated at Ban Houei Sane. The encounter extended through the whole night till the next day when the fighters were repelled.

1973

President Nixon reports that National Security Advisor Henry Kissinger and Hanoi’s top diplomat Le Du Tho have both agreed upon a peace agreement in Paris which would bring the war in Vietnam to an end with honor. The accords required the formation of a National Council of Reconciliation and Concord involving representatives from both Saigon and the National Liberation Front in charge of negotiations and organizing elections for a new regime.
