1971

North and South Vietnamese government officials together with United States delegate William Porter fail for the first time to set another date for the continuation of the Paris talks. The refusal came during the 138th session of the negotiations after William Porter angered the North Vietnamese officials by requesting a postponement of the next session till Hanoi and the Viet Cong came up with a positive approach towards the talks.
